Happy Sweet Sixteen Katie

On May 4, 2004, a very special person was born; my niece Katie. Like most, I wonder where did the time go?

Sweet Sixteen – what a special Birthday! Of course, due to the unfortunate circumstances, we will have to celebrate her special day later.

I’m so very proud of this young lady; she’s been through so much adversity in her young life, and yet none of that has stopped her from pushing through the garbage and fighting to work hard for what she wants out of life. Katie is the example of true strength and drive for anyone her age, and she’s only going to succeed so much more as time goes on; I just know that she’s going to do something special in her lifetime, and I can’t wait to see it all.

I think back to my first and only visit to California just days after Katie was born, and when I held her for the first time; she just melted my heart, and she continues to do so.  I will definitely never forget how sweet it felt when she was able to call me Aunt Amy for the first time; just no other feeling like that in the whole world. She may be taller than me, she’s a young adult, and just two short years to becoming a legal adult, but she will always be my little girl.

Happy Birthday Katie – I love you so very much, and you continue to make me proud.
