Awesome Books To Read

Eric Braeden book cover.jpg

I'm not one to read many autobiographies; in fact, I will only read about people I have a deeper interest in becoming familiar with. That being said, I'm not as "star struck" as other people are, however, there are a handful of people who can, and do bring that out in me; Eric Braeden being at the top of the list, next to my favorite red head, Lucy!

When Eric's book came out, it took all of two seconds for me to order a copy, and for a few bucks more, it would come to me signed! Jeff made it my Valentine's Day gift - the best ever; not ALL girls need diamonds!

"I'll Be Damned" is Eric's - and Victor's personal trademark, and the name of his book. It is without a doubt the best personal story I have ever read; it's a MUST read! In it, he is very open and talks about his childhood, being born and raised in Germany, how he lost his father before he hit his teen years, and how he dealt with the struggles when he first came to America.

In reading this book, you will get to know the man behind the Victor Newman character, as he also shares some humorous experiences; along with the adversity that he has overcome in order to be who he is today. I was an Eric Braeden fan before, but since reading his book, I'm an even bigger fan of his; he has become a hero of mine.

Eric, THANK YOU for sharing your story, and bringing us the gift of Victor Newman.

Jeanne Cooper_edited.jpg

Jeanne Cooper played Katherine Chancellor on the Young and the Restless. Her FANTASTIC book came out in July of 2012; less than a year before her sudden and heartbreaking death on May 8, 2013. I find it amazing that we can grieve for someone we've never met; she is still very missed among the fans. Every time she's mentioned on the show, there's such a desire to see her walk into the room, but then we are reminded that she's really gone.

The Katherine character was always fun for me to watch, and at times, she reminded me of one of my grandmothers with her sass; minus the "Bling." When reading her book, I found that Jeanne wasn't much different from that of her character; which made her story even better than I had expected.

Jeanne was as raw and open as her character, Katherine, and I enjoyed her work and her book immensely. She talks about her experience working with many different actors and actresses in her lifetime; a lot of it being hilarious to read about.

Just as her good friend and co-star, Eric Braeden the one and only Victor Newman; no one could ever play Katherine - she made Katherine!

"Not Young, Still Restless", is another MUST read book!

Love Lucy an autobiography.jpg

Lucy - a name that needs no last name to know who one is talking about; kind of like Elvis, there really is only one!

Truth be told, I had this book, Love Lucy, a few days before I started to read it; I knew it would be a tough one to read, knowing how heartbreaking her childhood was, among other periods in her life.

Lucy was very open and to the point in her story; one of my favorite qualities about her, and a side she didn't show too many people, because of her desire to cover the sadness she carried around with her all of her life.

To this day, I have a deep admiration for her; she never let the adversity rule her life, and she continued to push through the garbage to do what she wanted to do - to make people laugh.
